Semen Indonesia launches slag cement
22 September 2017Indonesia: Semen Indonesia has launched a new slag cement product under the brand ‘Maxstrength Cement.’ The cement producer said it was the first Portland Slag cement produced in the country. The company can producer 1500t/day of the slag cement and it is intended for use in large scale infrastructure projects that require high flexural strength, such as bridges or road flyovers.
India: Ambuja Cement has launched Ambuja Compocem, a composite cement made from fly ash and slag. The product is being produced at its Chhattisgarh plant and it has been introduced to markets in Bihar and Jharkland. It is being marketed to all market segments including individual house builders, real estate developers and infrastructure projects.
“With the launch of Ambuja Compocem, we have achieved a three pronged sustainability approach by conserving natural resources, creating a greener product and fulfilling customer needs for a superior performance product. We call this approach delivering true value,” said Ambuja Cement’s managing director and chief executive officer Ajay Kapur.
Aichi Steel to increase production of steel slag product
11 October 2016Japan: Aichi Steel is set to increase production of AS Shot, a high strength abrasive shot made using steel slag. It plans to upgrade its Chita plant to increase output fivefold for the 2017 financial year, according to Japan Metal Daily. Shooting is applied for plating base materials and removing rust in a wide range of fields including bridges, automobiles and shipbuilding. Use of AS Shot reduces the amount of dust generated during blasting and enables treatment to have a long life and excellent machinability.
India: Tata Steel has launched a new ground granulated blast furnace slag product in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Around 40 potential customers from the construction, ready-mix concrete and engineering sectors attended the launch event. Speakers at the event included Rashid Merchant from RMC India Readymix and PN OJha from the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM). Other senior officials from Tata Steel were also in attendance.
